Songs

Here’s the first song from the back catalogue. It’s a laid-back rap about over-population, part of a suite of ecology songs which I am currently working into a musical, the working title of which is Ecopocalypse.

No, I don’t believe in the old fashioned, Biblical apocalypse. Yes, I do think we face the gravest danger, beyond that which we have ever collectively and consciously faced since the Enlightenment when we decided that Science was going to remove our need for God. Was it a consequence of that time, believing that our intellect was the supreme tool for progress, that we lost our respect for nature, and began to exploit it to the point of extinction? Ruskin, Thoreau, Walt Whitman and others certainly thought so.

Anyway – this charming ditty has a long and a short version, this is the short version, and I’m proud of it mainly for the fact that it includes birds, bees, animals, porn stars, and a duet of a wah-wah trumpet and a baby. Oh, and the lyrics of course, they are pretty good too. Ohhhh, baby…

It’s the Environmental Sound of Reproduction
Steady increase in the population
Environmental evidence of mass fixation
Steady increase in the population…

I really enjoyed this! I’m amazed at how prolific you are. Great production chops and nuances on this track. I’ll be looking for more… subbing now.
